India Post is officially merging Registered Post with Speed Post

 📬 Key Changes

  • Unified Service: All domestic registered post items will now be handled under the Speed Post umbrella.
  • Tracking & Delivery: Speed Post will offer enhanced tracking, faster delivery, and addressee-specific delivery as a value-added feature.
  • Acknowledgement Due (AD): The familiar AD card used in Registered Post will be replaced by a digital or physical proof of delivery, available for an additional fee (₹10).
  • Legal & Official Use: Ministries and departments are instructed to revise rules and notifications that mention “Registered Post” to reflect this change.

  • To improve delivery speed, tracking capabilities, and customer convenience.
  • To align with modern communication needs and digital workflows.
